Meet Dr. Shannon York (Dr. York Performs Laser Hair Removal at Body Soul Spa)

Dr. Shannon York attended the Pacific Lutheran University for her undergraduate education majoring in Pre-medicine/Biology with a minor in Psychology. She received her Bachelor of Science in May 1997.   

She began her studies in Naturopathic Medicine in August 2001 and graduated in July 2005. During her studies she focused on womens health, natural hormone replacement therapy, enviromental medicine and detox, and nutrition for anti-aging and weight loss.

After graduation Dr York began a 6 month internship in aesthetic medicine.  She has 4 years of experience with many of the different lasers on the market today.  She is a Laser Safety Officer and a Certified Laser Technician.  Dr York has received advanced training in botox and fillers and has been using injectables for 4 years. She continues to attend conferences and classes to stay up to date on the latest techniques.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser Hair removal results will vary from person to person. Since hair grows in multiple cycles it is necessary to treat the hair during each of the active growth cycles to permanently remove the unwanted hair. Our state-of-the-art laser hair removal technology provides a painless and quick treatment to remove hair. Treatment times will vary depending on the size of the area to be treated. During treatment the hair follicles absorb the laser light, which damages the follicle and destroys its ability to re-grow. Two to three weeks after the hair sheds from the follicle, and the area treated is left somewhat bare for two to three more weeks.  When the hair does come back it is significantly less, and it is growing much slower.  It is at this time that the laser hair removal process is repeated again until you have achieved your goal of having little or no hair left.
